Academic Support

We are proud of our team of Reading and Math Interventionists, and the work they do with our students. Research is consistent about the importance of early intervention as students develop foundational skills.

Reading

Our Reading Interventionists are highly trained Reading Recovery teachers who provide 1:1 instruction for first graders who are finding early reading to be challenging. Reading Recovery teachers untangle early reading problems, bringing students to grade level, allowing them to continue to grow alongside peers. Our Reading Recovery Teachers also work with small groups of students in K-2, using Leveled Literacy Intervention, a evidence-supported program that is based on Reading Recovery. Math

Our Math Interventionists are committed to making sure all Forestdale students develop strong foundational understandings and skill in mathematics. We want our students to love mathematics and think of themselves as problem solvers and mathematicians. We are inspired by the work of Stanford University Professor Jo Boaler and Math Mindset.
