I want to thank everyone in advance for their support as we implement our procedures here at the Forestdale School, and I want to let everyone know that we are likely to experience delays in the first week or two of school as we get the new students, staff and parents comfortable with these procedures. Below please find an outline of the procedures:

Busses - Sandwich Public Schools spends over $ 1 million in transportation costs annually. This allows us to provide ample busses (20 this year) with relatively small ridership. As a result, bus ride times are well below the industry standard. The safest, most efficient way for any school to transport 600 students to and from school each day is through a bus system, and I strongly encourage every parent that has access to the bus to please take advantage of this service we provide.

Drop off - Parent drop off for K-2 families will occur in the parking lot to your right as you enter the school, next to the tennis courts. Please follow the painted arrows around the lot to the

drop off area, where staff will be stationed to help your child exit the car and head safely into the building. The drop-off area is drop and go, we will have plenty of staff members stationed outside the school to ensure your child enters the building safely.

Parent drop off for Preschool families will occur in the parking lot on to the left as you enter the school. Please follow the arrows around the outside loop and park parallel to the curb in those spots. Then walk your child around the back of the building to the Pre-K entrance where staff will meet you. Morning families will pick their child up at this same entrance while afternoon families will follow the instructions below.

Pick Up

As I mentioned above, I strongly encourage all families that can to take advantage of our bus transportation. Should you need to pick your child up during the school day, please park in one of the designated visitor parking areas, enter the school through the main door and sign your child out at the office. Should you need to pick your child up at the normal dismissal time, please use the parking lot on the left hand side as you enter the school, parking in the curbside parking spots or along the outer edge of the loop. Please then proceed down the sidewalk behind the building (past the playground) to the entrances by the gymnasium. These doors will be opened to parents once the students for pick up are settled (approximately 3:35). Parents will then need to sign out their child. Please be sure to have a PHOTO ID with you when you come to pick up your child to help verify you are the correct adult to be picking up that child. Once your identity has been confirmed and you have signed out your child, your child will be called from our staff supervised area to meet you to head home.
