Welcome to the Forestdale School. We are happy you are here. It is an exciting time for you and your child as they get ready to start kindergarten. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and to provide you with all the information that you need to be ready for the first day of school.

Registration Process & Timeline 

Kindergarten Registration is available now.

Please see the link below to complete your child's Kindergarten Registration for the Fall of 2022.  Please make sure you are registering for the 2022-2023 term.

*Please note: The link is for Pre-Registration only.  Once you have been approved, you will receive a second email to create a PowerSchool account and the instructions on how to complete the rest of the registration and to upload the required documents.  Your registration is NOT complete until all information is updated and all required documents have been uploaded.

Once you have completed the paper registration, please bring it with all REQUIRED documents to the Forestdale Main office.  We will not accept any paper registration without all required documents.  

  

 

Kindergarten Information Night 

On March 9th at 6:00pm we will host a Kindergarten Information Night in the Multi-Purpose Room.  Please come and hear about our Kindergarten curriculum, schedules and expectations from our Principal, Chris Dintino.  Our Kindergarten teachers and school nurse will be on hand to answer and questions.  Information packets will also be available.

Kindergarten Family Visit

We will hold a Family Visit for all kindergarten student on September 6, 2002.  Parents will come in with their students for an hour to see their classroom and meet their teacher.  The schedule for those visits is outlined below:

Last name beginning with A-H                     9:15am - 10:15am

Last name beginning with I-N                      10:30am - 11:30am

Last name beginning with O-Z                     11:45am - 12:45pm

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an age requirement for Kindergarten?

Yes, Sandwich Public Schools has a policy on school entrance age, which requires students to be five-years-old prior to September 1st.

Why does my child have a Kindergarten Screening?

A screening is required by Massachusetts Chapter 766 State Law. This screening is not used to determine a students readiness for kindergarten but a a tool for our school to "discover" and special learning needs a student may have.

Does my child need a physical to attend school?

Yes your child needs a current physical done between September 2020 and start of school 2021.

What is the immunization requirement for school attendance?

5 doses of Dtap/DTP vaccine

4 doses of OPV (polio vaccine)

3 doses of Hepatitis B vaccine

2 doses of MMR (Measles-Mumps-Rubella) vaccine

2 doses of Varivax (or documentation of having chicken pox)

In addition: Proof of a Lead Test

How long is the Kindergarten day?

Our day at the Forestdale School begins at 9:00am and ends at 3:30pm.

Are the before and after school programs offered?

Yes before and after school care is provided by The School for Early Learning.  Please contact them directly for availability and cost.  They can be reached at (508) 539- 7509.

How does the lunch program work?

Students can purchase lunch (if they chose) from our cafeteria.  You will receive information about setting up a lunch account at myschoolbucks.com.  This information should come home in your student's take home folder the first day of school. 

How does the Forestdale School communicate with Parents/Guardians?

At the Forestdale School we try to communicate with parents in the most efficient and effective manner. We use the Forestdale Elementary Facebook Page  (https://www.facebook.com/ForestdaleElementary/) to update you on events here at school. Email correspondence is used when there are messages from the Principal/Asst. Principal.  In the case of an unexpected school closing or event we usually communicate via email and/or phone messages.

How do teachers communicate with Parents/Guardians?

Teachers will be in touch with families at the beginning of the school year to let you know the best method of communication between the classroom and home.
