Second Graders are enthusiastic and passionate about learning. They radiate energy and are learning who they are in the community.

We recognize that students do not develop skills at the same rate so we differentiate learning according to each child's needs. Using a more inquiry based approach we are able to nurture physical, emotional and academic growth of students.

Throughout the day students are actively engaged in academics. The literacy block includes whole group, small group and independent reading, word study, and writer's workshop. The math block includes whole group and small group lessons, skill reinforcing math games, and independent work. Science topics include earth science, physical science and life sciences as well as engineering practices. Social studies topics include history, geography, civics and government, and economics.

Second grade is an exciting year of tremendous growth - and fun!
